The Future of Hearing is Here

What Happens After a Hearing Test?

Hearing tests can provide a lot of useful information for people who take them. Hearing tests are different than a typical screening you may have had at school or the doctor’s office. Hearing tests are more in-depth and are performed by hearing care professionals. These tests usually take from 15-60 minutes.

If you have never taken a hearing test before, then you may be wondering what happens after a hearing test. Here is what typically happens after you take a hearing test.

1. The results are analyzed

During this phase, your hearing specialist will look at your results and analyze them to figure out what the current state of your hearing is. The results may indicate that your hearing is normal, that you have some hearing loss or that another hearing issue is present.

2. The results are discussed

Once the hearing healthcare provider has analyzed your results, they will discuss them with you. If your results are normal, you will not receive treatment but will have a baseline for future hearing tests should you have any problems. However, if your results display a hearing impairment, then the hearing practitioner will most likely discuss a treatment plan with you.

3. A treatment plan will be created

The treatment plan that is created for you will depend on the nature of your hearing issues. Your hearing care professional may recommend hearing aids to help with your hearing loss; this is the most common form of treatment. Hearing aids are incredibly powerful, miniature devices that not only help you hear better, but also help to weed out background noises that may hinder your experience in a group setting.

4. The treatment plan will be carried out

After a treatment plan has been created for you, it will then be carried out. If your hearing provider recommends that you get hearing aids, you will select a device with the help of your professional and be fitted for hearing aids.

The first step to taking control of your hearing health and improving your current situation is to schedule a consultation with a hearing practitioner in your area. Once you find the right professional to see for your hearing loss symptoms, the quicker you’ll be able to positively improve not only your ability to hear, but your quality of life as well!
